Proof First Location Julius Caesar Stabbed Dead

Some archaeologists from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) claimed to find evidence of the first location where Julius Caesar was stabbed. Caesar, the charismatic leader of Rome, is known for was stabbed by his political rivals in the Senate on March 15 BCE (BCE).

However, the knowledge that has been a classic text-without any evidence whatsoever. Now, the tragedy can be explained by the fact archaeological find. Archaeologists dig up concrete structure with a width and height of 3 meters x 2 meters at the base Curia (theater) of Pompey, Torre Argentina, Rome, Italy. This location is mentioned in the literature as the scene of the stabbing. This structure is thought to be built by Augustus, Caesar's adopted son once successor, to protest against the murder. Structures that eventually become the key findings of the archaeologists. They concluded that Caesar was stabbed while sitting presided over the meeting with members of the Senate.

What exactly stabbing the structure of four walls covered with concrete. "We know Julius Caesar has been assassinated in the Curia of Pompey on March 15, 44 BC through classic texts that are passed down through the generations. But as long as there is no material evidence of it," said Antonio Monterroso, one of the researchers from the CSIC. Tragedy stabbing Caesar, added Monterroso, usually imaged in the history of painting or film. Classical literature also mentions, three days after the murder, Curia was closed and turned into a special temple to Caesar. To study the relationship between existing buildings around the complex trying stabbing with what he described, helped archaeologists learn some other buildings. One of them Portico of the Hundred Columns, commonly known by the name Hecatostylon. "It is interesting, in the sense of civic and community, that thousands of people now ride the bus and tram right next to where Julius Caesar was stabbed last year 2056," said Monterroso. 2X2 Bicycle Rack turns your motorcycle into a four-wheeler

If you really like your motorcycle, then perhaps you might be keen on the idea of using it as your one and only source of motorized transportation – for part of the year, at least. However, what happens if you’re also an avid cyclist, who sometimes needs to transport your bike? According to inventor, cyclist and motorbike rider Garrett Blake, all you need to do is buy his 2X2 Cycles Motorcycle Bicycle Rack.

“I could not see why I would own a motorcycle and not be able to have duality in use,” he explained to us. “I always hated having to decide between a motorcycle ride or taking the car to transport the bike to my favorite trail head or group ride.”

That frustration resulted in his creating the 2X2.

The brake light-equipped steel rack mounts on the rear of the motorcycle using supplied bolts – no drilling or altering of the vehicle is required. Exactly how it’s mounted varies between different makes of motorcycle. Buyers will be advised on the mounting method for their particular motorcycle when they order the rack.

Once the 2X2 is in place, the bicycle reportedly mounts on it in a matter of seconds. The process starts with the front wheel being removed, and the fork getting clamped into a lockable quick release at the front of the rack. Next, at the rear of the rack, the left-side crank is lowered into a rubber-coated sling, and secured in place with another quick-release mechanism. The detached front wheel is then attached to a receptacle just above the sling, using its own quick-release.

Finally, a strap is run over the bike’s handlebar stem, and attached to the motorcycle’s frame or passenger foot pegs. This is for added security, and – according to Blake – it helps keep the bike’s weight concentrated on the back of the motorcycle, as opposed to hanging out behind it.
But yes, about that ... how does carrying a bike affect the motorcycle’s handling? “It is a bit different between motorcycles,” said Garrett. “If you mount it on a 50cc light displacement scooter there will be more effect than on a 600-pound [272-kg] dual sport. On average the effect is far less than a passenger on board.”

The 2X2 Cycles Motorcycle Bicycle Rack works with Honda, BMW, Kawasaki, KTM, Harley Davidson, Suzuki, Yamaha, Triumph, Aprilia, and Ducati motorcycles. It is available now, for US$298. Another motorcycle bike rack, the Johnny Rack, was available as recently as last year, but the company is no longer in business. Gizmag Info

When the prey Galaxies Galaxies Galaxies and Galactic-Giants collide each other

By using the "lens" gravitational in space, astronomers at the University of Utah found that the center of the largest galaxies grow into more dense - giving evidence of the collision and merging repeatedly between giant galaxies.
"We found that over the last 6 billion years, the material that forms a giant elliptical galaxy more concentrated towards the center of the galaxy. This is evidence that large galaxies crashing into other large galaxy to make the larger galaxy, "said astronomer Adam Bolton, lead author of the new study.
"The most recent studies have previously shown that massive galaxies grow by way of preying galaxies smaller in quantity," he added. "We show that the collision between big galaxies is as important as a lot of snacks."
This new study - published in The Astrophysical Journal Bolton-done by a team from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey-III using the telescope optical width of 2.5 meters at Apache Point, NM, and the Hubble Space Telescope orbiting Earth.
Telescopes has been used to observe and analyze the 79 "gravitational lens", which is between the earth and the galaxy galaxies at a greater distance. Gravitational lens galaxies are useful in deflecting light from the more distant galaxy, creating a ring or partial ring of light around the lens galaxy.
Ring size was used to determine the mass of each galaxy in the lens, and the speed of the stars used to calculate the concentration of mass in each galaxy lenses.
Bolton worked on this study along with the three other astronomers from the University of Utah - postdoctoral researcher Joel Brownstein, graduate students and undergraduate Yiping Shu-Ryan Arneson also with members of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey: Christopher Kochanek of Ohio State University; David Schlegel of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; Daniel Eisenstein of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics; David Wake of the University of Yale; Natalia Connolly from Hamilton College, Clinton, NY; Claudia Maraston from the University of Portsmouth, England, and Benjamin Weaver of the University of New York.
Great food and snacks for the giant elliptical galaxy
The new study is dealing with the kind of elliptical galaxies are the largest ever known, each containing about 100 billion stars. By calculating the " dark matter "that is not visible, the galaxies containing a mass of about 1 billion stars like our sun.
"They are the end product of all collisions and merging galaxies previous generations, maybe hundreds of collisions," said Bolton.
Although recent evidence from other studies suggests that the giant elliptical galaxies grow by preying galaxies are much smaller, but Bolton earlier computer simulations show that collisions between galaxies are the only major galaxy mergers that lead to increased density in the center of the giant elliptical galaxy.
When a small galaxies merge with larger ones, the pattern was different. Smaller galaxies torn apart by the gravity of massive galaxies. The stars of the small galaxies stay close to the outskirts of the galaxy, not its center.
"But if you have two galaxies are roughly comparable, and both are on a collision course, then each of the more penetrating to the center of each other, so there is more mass that ends up in the center," said Bolton.
Other recent research suggests that the stars spread further into the galaxy from time to time, supporting the idea that large galaxies prey galaxies are much smaller.
"We found that these galaxies are more concentrated on the mass of them from time to time though less concentrated on the light they give off," says Bolton.
Bolton believes that collisions between large galaxies to explain the growth of the mass concentration, whereas galaxies swallowing smaller galaxies explain distant starlight from the galaxy center.
"Both of these processes is important to explain the whole picture," said Bolton. "The way the light of the development can not be explained by the massive collision, so we really need both types of collisions, ie collisions of large and small - Its great in small amounts and in large quantities."

The study also shows that collisions between galaxies are "dry collision" - that is, galaxies colliding gas shortages in large numbers because most of the gas is frozen to form a star - and that these galaxies are colliding not hit each other in the position angles to each other, or who termed Bolton as a "blow grazed".
Meet Sloan Hubble: How to Study Guide
University of Utah joined the third stage of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, which is known as SDSS-III, in 2008. By involving some 20 research institutions around the world, a project that continued until 2014 is an international effort to map the space as a way to search for giant planets in other solar systems, study the origin of galaxies and the expansion of the universe, as well as investigating dark matter and mysterious dark energy that make up most of the universe.
Bolton said that the new study is "almost soupy" to include an SDSS-III project called BOSS (Baryon Oscillation spectrographic Survey). BOSS seeks to measure the expansion history of the universe with a precision that has never happened before. It allows scientists to study dark energy accelerating the expansion of the universe. The universe is believed to consist of only 4 percent ordinary matter, 24 percent of "dark matter" invisible and 72 percent dark energy as-yet-unexplained.
During the study BOSS galaxies, the computer analyzes the spectrum of light emitted gravitational lens galaxies reveal dozens, were found as natural signs of two different galaxies are in one line.
Image from the Hubble Space Telescope is the same as the previous image, but not through the same processing. As a result, Einstein ring of distant galaxies become less sharp, but the galaxies 'gravitational lens' it becomes visible in the center of the image. (Credit: Joel Brownstein, University of Utah, for the NASA / ESA and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey)

The study involved 79 Bolton observed gravitational lenses from two surveys:
  • Sloan Survey and the Hubble Space Telescope that collects images and color spectrum of light emitted old galaxies are relatively close - accounts for 57 gravitational lenses - 1 billion to 3 billion years in the past.
  • Another survey identified 22 lenses among young galaxies within more distant, from 4 billion to 6 billion years in the past.
The ring of light around the gravitational lens galaxies called the "Einstein ring" as Albert Einstein once predicted effect, even though he was not the first to do so.
"The galaxies are further transmit the scattered light rays, but the rays passing near the galaxy closer to unity can be bent light rays appear to us as the light ring around the galaxy close," said Bolton.
The greater the amount of material in a lens galaxy, the greater the ring. It seems counter intuitive, but the larger mass has a gravitational pull enough to make the trajectory of such a cornering light of distant stars that can be seen by the observer, creating a larger ring.
If there is more material concentrated near the center of the galaxy, the stars will appear to move faster toward or away from the galactic center, said Bolton.
Alternative Theories
Bolton and his colleagues acknowledge that their observations could be explained by other theories besides the idea that the galaxies condense head from time to time:
  • The gas collapsing to form stars may increase the concentration of mass in a galaxy. Bolton found the stars in these galaxies are too old to corroborate this explanation.
  • Gravity of the biggest galaxies stripped galaxies "Satellite" at the edges, leaving more mass is concentrated at the center of the satellite galaxy. Bolton found the process may not result in the concentration of mass that has been observed in the new study and explain how the level of the center of mass developed from time to time.
  • The researchers only detect galaxies at each boundary between the inner region and the star-dominated outer region, which is dominated by invisible dark matter. Under this hypothesis, the display of mass concentration of galaxies evolve from time to time it is because of a fluke in the method of measurement of the researchers - they measure young galaxies in areas further away from the center and old galaxies measured on a more close to its center, presenting the illusion of mass concentration in the center of galaxies grow over time. Bolton argued that the difference measure is too small to explain the observed pattern in the density of matter in the galaxy-galaxy lenses.

Heaven is Real, According to the Surgeon who claims never visited

Dr. Eben Alexander taught at Harvard Medical School and has a good reputation as a neurosurgeon. Although he calls himself converted to Christianity, but he never really believed in life after death.

But after a week coma in the fall of 2008, when neokorteks stops functioning, Alexander claimed that he had a visit to the afterlife, particularly heaven.
"According to the medical understanding of brain and mind, I could not have had any experience as a coma, let alone a very clear and coherent as I experienced," wrote Alexander in a major report this week's issue of Newsweek. So, what is heaven like?
According to Alexander, he first found himself floating in the clouds before witnessed, "shiny transparent creatures flying through the sky, leaving a trail line as the former trail behind the plane."
He was then escorted by a female figure and communicate with these creatures with the method of correspondence in the language. The message he received was,"You are loved and cherished, loved, forever.""You need not be afraid.""There's no one thing that you do."
From there, Alexander claimed he traveled toward "an emptiness, very dark, infinite size, but also very comforting." He believes this gap is the house of the Lord.
After recovering from a coma caused by meningitis, Alexander felt free to share this experience with his colleagues, but he found a sense of security at the church. He also wrote his experiences in a book, "Proof of Heaven: A neurosurgeon's journey into the afterlife," which will be published in late October.
"I'm still a doctor, and still the same trust in science as it was before my experience," wrote Alexander. "But in a deeper level, I am a very different person than I was, because I catch a glimpse of a picture of this reality. And you can believe me if I told you everything would be paid off, and for those who live after us, to do the right thing. "

Skull, human skull, sitting on a rock at the north end of fragile nan remote Mustang district of Nepal. Pete Athans, the leader of a multidisciplinary team consisting of mountain climbers and archaeologists, wearing a harness and climbing rope linking to. He climbed the six-meter high rock with a rope stretched by another climber, Ted Hesser.
When he reached his skull, he pulled out a blue latex gloves to avoid contaminating DNA findings, and gently remove it from the ground. Athans almost certainly be the first to hold the skull in 1,500 years. Soil fell from the eyes of the skull cavity.
He put his findings into a red bag with protective pads, then lowered it to three scientists who are waiting at the bottom: Mark Aldenderfer of the University of California, Merced; Jacqueline Eng from Western Michigan University, and Mohan Singh Lama of Nepal's Department of Archaeology.
Aldenderfer very happy because the skull was still left two molars. Through teeth, we can know the food, health and one's place of birth. Eng, bioarkeologi expert, quickly concluded that the skull was likely to come from a young adult male. He found three fractures that have healed the skull and one on the right jaw. "The signs of violence," she supposed. "Or maybe he kicked a horse?"
But more interesting than the skull itself was a place found. Athans scaled the stone which is located right at the base of a rock cliff brown with white stripes and pink. Near the top of the cliff there are some small caves dug in the rock painstakingly fragile nan. Erosion trigger the collapse of most of the cliff, dropping it to the bottom of the skull. If there is a skull falls, what else might still be up there?
Mustang, royal past in the north-central Nepal, save the world one of the great mysteries of archeology. In the dusty, windswept hidden in the Himalayas and is cleaved by the Kali Gandaki gorge is a lot of man-made caves.
The caves were there in the form of a hole in the cliff giant wavy weathered rock. Others, flocking to the hole when the wind humming along, sometimes eight or nine tiered levels. There are excavated from the face of the cliff, some are dug from above. Many thousands of years of age. Conservative estimate of the total number of caves in Mustang is 10,000 caves. from http://nationalgeographic.co.id/feature/2012/10/gua-gua-langit-di-nepal

New Dates Estimating mixing Gen Neanderthals and Early Modern Humans

To The discover why Neanderthals are so closely related to humans outside of Africa, scientists from Harvard and the Max Planck Institute of estimates dating when Neanderthals and modern humans in Europe last share a common ancestor. Research published in the journal PLoS Genetics, the thrust of the historical context for the cross-breeding. Research shows that modern humans may have interbred with Neanderthals soon after they spread out of Africa.

Neanderthals were in Europe when modern humans spread out of Africa. Both coexisted for thousands of years before Neanderthals became extinct about 30,000 years ago.

When the Neanderthal genome sequenced in 2010, it is revealed that humans outside Africa has a little more Neanderthal genetic variants than Africans. One of the scenarios that could explain this observation is that modern humans have been mixed with the Neanderthals as they come out of Africa. Alternatively, but more complex, is the scenario that the population in Africa is the ancestor to Neanderthals and modern humans.

Dr. Sriram Sankararaman colleagues measuring range of DNA fragments that are similar to the genome of the Neanderthals in Europe. Because recombination between two chromosomes when the egg and sperm are formed reduce the size of a few pieces of each generation, Neanderthal-related pieces will be smaller.
The research team estimates that Neanderthals and modern humans last time swapping genes between 37,000 and 86,000 years ago, shortly after the emergence of modern humans outside of Africa, but the possibilities before they begin to spread across Eurasia.

The researchers found that the likelihood of sexual intercourse took place in the Middle East.

They wrote: "Genetic analysis by itself does not indicate where possible gene flow. However, the calendar in conjunction with archaeological evidence suggests that the two populations are likely to meet somewhere in the western part of Eurasia.

"An interesting hypothesis is in the Middle East, where archaeological evidence and the fossil suggests that modern humans appear before 100,000 years ago."

The fossils were found in Lake Turkana southern Africa

The fossils were found in Lake Turkana southern Africa have confirmed the presence of two additional species in our genus - Homo - species that coexist with our ancestors, Homo erectus, nearly two million years ago. These findings, published in the journal Nature, consists of a face, a complete lower jaw, as well as part of the mandible both.
The fossils were found between 2007 and 2009 by the Koobi Fora Research Project (KFRP), under the leadership of Meave and Louise Leakey. Professor of anthropology at New York University, Susan Antón, a member of the research team, taking part in an effort to compare these fossils with the previous findings.
"The new fossils provide a major test at the initial hypothesis of how the separation of Homo have been recorded before, but, more importantly, these fossils show an idea of how these species may have shared environments - those species that are not separately into one large and one species of small species on the contrary, these fossils show remarkable variation in size within each species, but the anatomy of different faces. "
Four decades ago, KFRP mysterious fossils known as KNM-ER 1470 (or simply "1470"). The skull, which is distinguished by the large size of his brain and a long flat reasonable, sparked debate about how many other species that coexist with Homo erectus during the Pleistocene epoch, the range is from 2.6 million years to 11,700 years ago. 1470 unique morphology has been characterized by some scientists to sexual differences and the level of natural variation within a single species, while other scientists interpret fossils as evidence of a separate species.
The dilemma is to survive long because of two reasons. First, the comparison with the other fossils are very limited due to the absence or mandibular teeth left over from 1470. Secondly, the absence of other fossil bones that resembles the shape of a long face and a flat 1470; does this leave any doubt how the typical characteristics. And finally, fossils recently discovered tackle both issues.
"For 40 years we've been searching long and exhausting in the vast expanse of sediment around Lake Turkana to find fossils that can confirm the unique features of the face 1470 and can show us what way the teeth and lower jaw," said Meave Leakey, a co-leader KFRP and a National Geographic Explorer-resident. "We finally have some answers."
"When combined, these three new fossil provides a much clearer picture of how the way in 1470," added Fred Spoor, who led the scientific analysis. 'As a result, now it is clear that two species of early Homo coexisted with Homo erectus. The new fossils will be very helpful in order to unravel how the human evolutionary branch first appeared and developed in the nearly two million years ago. "
Found within a radius of more than 10 kilometers from the discovery of 1470, three new fossil is between 1.78 million and 1.95 million years old. The face of KNM-ER 62000, which was discovered in 2008, is very similar to the face of 1470. Moreover, the upper jaw on his face was left virtually all cheek teeth, which for the first time be possible to infer the type mandible ever owned 1470. Suitability in particular can be found on two other new fossils, mandible KNM-ER 60000, which was found in 2009, and other parts of the mandible, KNM-ER 62003, which was found in 2007. KNP-ER 60 000 remains the most complete garlic jaws ever found of the early members of the genus Homo.

MEEP! tablet for kids now available

If product releases are anything to go by, it seems that almost every child is going to be getting a tablet computer for Christmas this year. There's the VTech InnoTab 2, the Leappad 2, the Toys"R"Us Tabeo, and that's before you consider the myriad of child-centric add-ons for iPads. Also jostling for position on your little one's Christmas list is the newly released Android-toting MEEP! from Oregon Scientific.

When the MEEP! was announced back in February, we knew it was going to run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), feature a rugged silicone sleeve and be Wi-Fi-enabled. Now that it's been released, we can fill in a few of the technical blanks and also see how Oregon Scientific is dealing with the all-important issue of parental controls. Aimed at kids aged six years and above, the device boasts a recessed 7-inch zForce touch screen (800 x 480 pixels) which won’t shatter when dropped. It's powered by a 1.0GHz Cortex A8 processor with 512MB RAM, features 4 GB of internal storage along with an SD card slot, and has a 0.3 MP camera for taking photos and videos. While it's running Android 4.0, the MEEP! has been given a simplified menu system, with kids scrolling to navigate through their apps, games, books and multimedia content. Pre-loaded content includes Angry Birds, UNO, Toon Goggles, along with various educational art and learning apps A cloud-based "Parents Portal" on MEEP Tablet.com means parents don't need to pry the tablet out of their child's hands to change settings and controls. They can remotely set what websites kids can access, or add words to a “bad word” list which stops them being used in chats or searched for. Parents can also monitor their child’s online activity, limit play time duration and set a "virtual allowance" – in the form of MEEP! coins – for their child to spend on content from the MEEP! Store. All of the paid or free games, books, videos and apps in the store have been cleared for kid-friendliness by Oregon Scientific. Content which can be installed isn't limited to MEEP! Store offerings, however. Google Play can also be accessed, but only from the Parents Portal, meaning that parental permission is needed before downloading. Accessories available for the MEEP! include music-oriented add-ons such as a portable piano, drum pad, headphones and microphone, and game-focused items such as a joystick, steering wheel or the double play Game-Pro Case. The MEEP! is available now for US$150.

Turns out they really can come true

Turns out they really can come true. At least approaching. Japanese Model Anna Amemiya became famous in his country for always wearing a mask of anime, both when shooting photos or on stage.
Model half-human, half 22-year-old anime made ? its debut in the year 2010 as a gravure idol. He then signed a contract with Excel Human Agency, its first DVD release in December 2010, and even had his dakimakura pillowcase itself. One thing that distinguishes Anna from other models around the world is the head of the anime that became his trademark.
So basically he has the head of a smiling anime girl and a real woman's body, which was (for reasons that are hard to understand) is considered attractive by some Japanese guy. It is worth noting that Anna never takes off his mask in public, so no one knows what his real face.
After a silence for a year, Anna has updated its official blog site, and said that he would participate in a theatrical adaptation of a popular Japanese mobile game entitled Venus Fantasista, which tells about a bunch of pretty girls who form a football club. Because all the characters in its games are anime characters, nothing can better portray one of the characters rather than a model-headed anime.

CME Causes Colorful Aurora

NASA's Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE) detected the leading edge of the coronal mass ejection (CME) that had erupted from the sun late at night on Sep. 27. The input of energy and solar material into Earth's magnetic environment, the magnetosphere, caused what's called a geomagnetic storm – that is, compression and variation in the magnetosphere.

This storm was rated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) as a G3 storm, on a scale from G1 to G5. Such storms are considered medium strength. This storm produced aurora as far south as Maryland and Ohio in the U.S. Updates will be provided, if needed. From Nasa and Forbezo

Google Inc’s most senior executive in Brazil was questioned by police

Google Inc’s  most senior executive in Brazil was questioned by police and released on Wednesday after the company failed to take down a YouTube video attacking a mayoral candidate in alleged violation of electoral law.

Google is appealing the charges against Fábio José Silva Coelho, who was brought in by federal police in São Paulo and released after he agreed to cooperate with the case, according to a police statement.

“Google is providing clarification to legal authorities,” a spokesman for the company in São Paulo said on
Wednesday.

The questioning came a day after a state court in São Paulo banned an online video that sparked violent protests across the Muslim world, giving Google 10 days to pull the video from its YouTube unit. Google has not been formally notified about that case, according to a spokesman for the company.

Taken together, the legal scrutiny represents the strongest pressure Google has yet faced in Brazil to control third-party content uploaded to its websites and the first time its senior executives have come under such intense fire.

Rather than reflecting a coherent national policy, however, the cases illustrate how aggrieved citizens can get a sympathetic hearing from local judges with extensive procedural powers.

ALLEGED PATERNITY SUIT

Coelho was questioned over a case filed in the western state of Mato Grosso do Sul, where a regional electoral court ruled that the executive was at fault for the company’s failure to take down online videos in violation of a stringent 1965 Electoral Code. [ID:nL1E8KPLW5]

Brazilian electoral law bans campaign ads that “offend the dignity or decorum” of a candidate. The video in question claimed that a mayoral candidate demanded his lover get an abortion, publicizing the details of an alleged paternity suit.

“Google is appealing the decision that ordered the removal of the video on YouTube because, as a platform, Google is not responsible for the content posted to its site,” the company said through a spokesman in Brazil on Tuesday.

Even if Google is not at fault for the publication of such a video, the company may be held responsible for not removing content declared by illegal by a judge, according to Leonardo Palhares, a lawyer specializing in internet law at Almeida Advogados in São Paulo.

Federal police said the crime of disobeying a judge’s ruling under the Electoral Code can carry a sentence of up to one year in prison.

The ruling follows a similar decision by another electoral judge in the northeastern state of Paraiba, which also held a senior Google executive responsible for videos in violation of elections law. That decision was overturned last week.

INTERNET FREEDOM IN SPOTLIGHT

Brazil also entered a broader international debate this week about an inflammatory YouTube video depicting the Prophet Mohammad as a womanizer, fool and child abuser, when a state court in Sao Paulo ordered Google to take down the video.

World leaders have decried the video, which set off a string of violent protests in the Muslim world, including attacks on U.S. embassies in Egypt, Libya and Yemen. Several Muslim leaders called for international action to outlaw acts of blasphemy.

When President Barack Obama addressed the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, he repeated his condemnations of the video as “crude and disgusting” but defended the importance of free speech in the United States and throughout the world.

Ruling on a lawsuit by Brazil’s National Islamic Union, São Paulo Judge Gilson Delgado Miranda gave Google 10 days to remove the video. In his decision, Miranda said he weighed freedom of expression against the need to protect against action that might incite religious discrimination.

A California judge ruled last week that the video could stay on YouTube despite a request to have it taken down by an actress appearing in the clip. She argued that she was duped into taking part and had since received death threats. [ID:nL1E8KK91B]

Google rejected a request by the White House to reconsider its decision to keep the clips on YouTube, but the company has blocked the trailer in certain Muslim countries such as Egypt and Libya.

NASA to build manned space station beyond the Moon?

After forty years of venturing no farther than low Earth orbit, NASA may have decided to establish a manned outpost at a greater distance than humanity has ever traveled before. According to documents seen by the Orlando Sentinel, NASA has chosen a proposal to build a space station beyond the Moon that will act as a “gateway spacecraft” to explore the Moon, the asteroids and eventually as a staging post to launch a manned mission to Mars.
The documents refer to a project that NASA Chief Charlie Bolden briefed the White House on earlier this month. They describe a deep space habitat that would be built at Earth-Moon Lagrange 2 (EML-2) – a point in space 38,000 miles (61,000 km) on the far side of the Moon and 277,000 miles (446,000 km) from Earth. The outpost wouldn’t orbit the Moon. Instead, at EML-2 the gravitational and centrifugal forces of the Earth and Moon balance out and an object placed there will remain suspended like one of those desktop novelty floating globes. The EML-2 station might be built from parts of the International Space Station (ISS) and include a Russian module and Italian components. NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS), scheduled to fly in 2017, would be used to send the components to EML-2 in 2019, as well as the Orion spacecraft, which would ferry cargo and crew to the outpost.

Missions for the EML-2 station would include exploration of the asteroids, robotic trips to the Moon with the first sample returns by 2022, and a manned mission to Mars. The Sentinel quotes the documents as stating that placing a "spacecraft at the Earth-Moon Lagrange point beyond the moon as a test area for human access to deep space is the best near-term option to develop required flight experience and mitigate risk.” The price of the program isn’t mentioned and this might be a stumbling block for administration support during a time of tight budgets. The White House did not respond to the Orlando Sentinel’s request for comment, and a NASA statement was noncommittal about the outpost. All this sounds very similar to the 2011 Global Exploration Roadmap drawn up by the International Space Exploration Coordination Group (ISECG), a consortium made up of the ISS partner nations.

It outlines possible missions for the next 25 years that could be made possible by extending the service life of the ISS beyond 2020 This report outlined two paths, one called Asteroid Next, which describes the steps needed to explore near-Earth asteroids and Moon Next, which outlines a manned return to the Moon.

The EML-2 station appears to be derived from the Asteroid Next path. Whether this is actually the case or not remains to be seen, but the general description from the Sentinel and the Roadmap’s more detailed treatment show no major variations. If the EML-2 station is approved, it will involve more challenges than the merely monetary. EML-2 lies far outside the Earth’s Van Allen belts and would therefore be vulnerable to high levels of radiation, which would require robust shielding and detection equipment. The Orion spacecraft would also have to be built to withstand reentry speed not encountered since the return of Apollo 17 in 1972.

Because of the distance and travel times to and from Earth measuring in days, systems would need to be heavily automated and built to an unprecedented degree of reliability. Furthermore, new techniques for the long-term storage and management of cryogenic fluids would need to be developed as well as acquiring operational knowledge that is beyond anything needed in manned space exploration to date. Until officially verified, the EML-2 station still remains only one possible future for the American space program, but if it does come about, the final frontier will have expanded enormously.

Urine Can Be Fuel Power Cheap and Abundant

Urine can be abundant fuel for electricity generation, according to British scientists in the first study of its kind.
Researchers from the University of the West of England, Bristol, have described a direct way to generate electricity from urine using Fuel Cells Microbes (MFC). Their research is published in the latest journal Royal Society of Chemistry, Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics.

The purpose of the research team include investigating whether urine could generate electricity through MFC and calculate the energy yield of urine when used in MFA. Estimates that 6.4 trillion liters of urine produced each year, sparked the idea to highlight the urine as a potential alternative energy source, which is often neglected so far. Three MFC is made of acrylic with 25ml anode and cathode chambers used in the experimental study. Anode and cathode electrodes are connected via a small pump to 1l bottle container. Water is added to the large volume of urine, ranging from 25ml to 300ml, into the re-circulation reservoir bottle, or with a small volume, 0.1ml to 10ml, which is injected directly into the anode hole.

Urine is used fresh or at most a week from donations and samples, among the donations per 400-500ml, taken from a healthy volunteer and have a normal diet and had no history of urinary tract or kidney disease. Before the injection of 25ml of urine, the MFC produces 0.9 miliamper per square meter (mA / m²), which increased to 2.9 mA / m² after an hour of the injection point. Amount of urine is enough energy to power continuously for three days, at which point the performance began to rise and return to the level of power output produced MFC before injection. The scientists showed that the addition of 25ml of fresh urine takes three days to be used in a single MFC 25ml volume. To pile MFC 10, the same sample takes hours to be utilized. Based on daily urine output of 2.5 L per person, it would require about 300 MFC to utilize an average daily production of a human being. The research team at Bristol have been experimenting for two years and stated that the response to the addition of fresh urine has been consistent as a whole.

For single MFC used in this study, the conversion efficiency has showed an inverse relationship with the number of additional urine as fuel. To increase the volume up to 25ml of urine, directly to electricity conversion efficiency ranges from 60 to 70 percent, while for volumes greater than 700ml, efficiency ranged from 22 to 30 percent. Lead researcher Ioannis Ieropoulos said, "With the global annual production rate as much as trillions of liters, this is a technology that can help change the world. The impact of this could be enormous, not only for industrial wastewater treatment, but also for the community as a paradigm shift in the perception of waste. "
